Vama Buzăului area offers plenty of options for outdoor activities, both on and off the beaten trails. The village is surrounded by Ciucas and Tataru Mountains, but, also, has access to Siriu Mountains (via Tatarutu ridge). This weekend is planned for the hikers having already some experience and a good fitness level (able to walk over 20km/day with differences of elevation over 1000m, carrying a normal daypack). On day 1 we will walk the loop of Tataru Mountain, with its two summits (Tataru Mic - 1412m and Tataru Mare - 1476m). Belonging to the bigger group of Buzaului Mountains, they are also considered (many times) just a part of Siriului Mountains. On day 1, our route numbers will be not so scaring: Distance: 16 km Difference of elevation: +/- 740 m Estimated time on route: 6 hours On day 2, we will have a more difficult program, as long as we will hike a less known trail to Siriului Mountains, starting from Vama Buzaului. And yes, our plan is to reach all important landmarks: Malaia Peak - 1662m, The Eagles Lake and Gate of Winds. This time, even the numbers of the day look different: Distance: 22 km Difference of elevation: over +/- 1100 m Estimated time on route: 8-9 hours GOOD (AND IMPORTANT) TO KNOW Difficulty level: MEDIUM (on day 1) and DIFFICULT (on day 2) Places available: 8 (for both days) PLEASE BE AWARE THAT FOR REACHING THE STARTING POINT OF THE TREKS, WE WILL DRIVE ON UNPAVED ROADS (7 KM ON DAY 1, AND 6 KM ON DAY 2) Meeting place: will be confirmed with participants, for every day. The cost of 250 RON/person is for both days. It is possible to choose only one of the hikes; in this case the cost is 130 RON/person.
